Black Friday sales are the greatest. You can get great (or not so great) games on the cheap! If you hurry to GameStop this weekend you can still catch some of these games, too!

I’ve been writing video game reviews for over two years now, and there’s been some things I’ve learned over that span of time. I don’t mean better writing techniques, for which I’ve picked up quite a few, but rather the things you don’t think about until they rear their head. Since not everyone has written reviews before, I wanted to take some time to reflect on my time spent writing, and give some insight on what it takes to be a freelance video game reviewer.

A great haul this week, spanning from the PS1, PS2, and the Xbox 360.
I love it when I get a great deal on a lot of games.

Protip:
Never throw away a box of supposed junk in the attic of a video gamer without first rummaging through its contents. The rewards could be substantial.

A newly released Xbox Live Arcade shooter, Fusion: Genesis combines the action of dual-stick shooting with the upgrading of RPGs. I felt there was a bit too much emphasis placed on the managing of ships and upgrades and not enough focus on the action, but this is still a good title that lets you live out your space mercenary dreams.

The satisfaction of thinking you somehow beat the system, found a gem, and finally attained the sought after holy grail of your collection is exhilarating. The Lord of the Rings is among the greatest fantasy epics ever told, and after the success of the movie franchise a bevy of tie-ins products, side stories, and other media was created to expand the universe. Snowblind’s newest action title is set in the land of Middle Earth but does not follow the paths of Frodo, Aragorn, or Gandalf; instead it tells an entirely new story. The Lord of the Rings: War in the North acts as a side car to the main storyline, telling of the heroic deeds of three brave warriors whose actions directly impacted the success of the Fellowship. Grab your axe, sharpen your swords, and get ready to kill some orcs.

There’s way too many video games to play. Way too many. While everyone will undoubtedly have their favorites there are certain games that might get passed by that shouldn’t have. Maybe it’s a game that came out while another, bigger game was released. Or perhaps its something you’ve just completely overlooked altogether. In the first volume of Worth Playing I’m looking at a few games that may or may not have flew under your radar but should be considered regardless. Let’s get going.
