This Week in Gaming News: 5/5/12 – 5/11/12

11 May

What’s going on over at G4? First Adam Sessler was out, now Kevin Pereira is stepping down. Pretty soon all they’ll have left are reruns of Cops and Ninja Warrior.

Oh wait…

But in other news…

Bioshock Infinite has been delayed until next year

Ken Levine, the game’s director, has delayed the highly anticipated first-person shooter until February 26, 2013, a four month push back from its initial October 16, 2012 release date. Levine says the extra time is needed to fine tune the game to the perfect title he wants it to be. He also states that the same process occurred during development of the original Bioshock back in 2007. If this means the game will be better and the product that it is intended to be, then I’m all for it. Take as much time as you need, good sir. (Source: IGN)

Attack of the Show co-host and G4 personality Kevin Pereira is leaving G4

Just weeks after Adam Sessler left the gaming network, Kevin Pereira has stated that he too will be leaving G4 behind. The host and star of the TV network/website hybrid stated that he enjoyed his time at G4 and is looking forward to the future. Pereira said he is going to work with his own production company (Super Creative) and thanks all of the fans for the years of support. His last live taping of Attack of the Show will be Thursday, May 31st, and his last stint with the network will be covering E3 from June 4th to the 7th. Thanks for the years of service, my man. You can totally play as Stan Lee in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man

Well, if you pre-order the game from Amazon, that is. The creative of Spider-Man (among many other Marvel staples) was thrilled to be a part of the game: “I couldn’t believe it when I got the call from Activision. Then they asked would that be OK with me, would I want to do it. I shouted, ‘Of course!’ It sounded sensational,” Lee stated. Whether or not Stan will be available to others who don’t order via Amazon is still up in the air, but I’d presume this will be a limited exclusivity so Activision can make an extra buck or five off us later. Still though, that’s amazing spectacular sweet! (Source: Machinima)

There is a strong possibility a LEGO Lord of the Rings video game is in the works

LEGO announced a few months back that they’d be releasing officially licensed Lord of the Rings toys, and the gaming crowd immediately speculated about a LEGO video game based on the tales of the Fellowship. A few months and a post leaking the game later, we might not be waiting much longer. A UK retailer put on their website information about the box the toys would come in. And on the box is a detail confirming that a video game will be coming out soon as well. I think this all but gaurntees a LotR LEGO game, but there is still a chance Traveller’s Tales (who made the previous LEGO tie-in video games) is not working on the title (at least not yet). Aside from LEGO Star Wars, I think this series has the greatest potential to be an awesome video game. (Source: Gamespot)

An Adventure Time game is in the works for the DS and 3DS

Publisher D3 announced this week that they would be bringing the zaniness of the cartoon series to the DS/3DS this fall in the form of Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage? Aside from the game having arguably one of the best titles in video game history, it also lets you play as both Finn and Jake. No more details have arisen yet about the title, but I’d assume we’re looking at some sort of action/platformer set in the AT world. Meaning it’ll be cute and frightening at the same time!
