DDR Hottest Party 2 CoverDance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2
Wii
Release Date: September 16th, 2008
Purchased at: Goodwill (Sunnyvale, CA – $4)

Just a random stop in Goodwill this week and I happened across a fine looking Wii game. Though at this point the series is still well out of it’s prime, Hottest Party 2 in as great a condition as I found it and for that price is just too good to pass up. Apparently the reviews for this one (and the entire Hottest Party series in general) have been mostly favorable, complimenting the game’s selection of musical tracks. I’m actually curious to see how this plays without a dance pad but with the Wii’s motion controls. Who knows…

Review: NES Remix

NES Remix LogoWhen you have a back catalog as cherished and legendary as Nintendo’s, it only makes sense a game comes along to celebrate that storied history. NES Remix is a collection of “classic” Nintendo Entertainment System games broken up into small, objective based stages. I use the term classic loosely, because while Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda are bona fide classics, placing them in league with Golf or Pinball is a bit of a stretch. Fueled by nostalgia and featuring over 200 levels, NES Remix gives Nintendo fans a chance to play (or relive) an assortment of retro games, with a twist.

Review: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds CoverThe Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is widely considered to be one of the mighty Super Nintendo’s greatest games, even thought by some to be the best Zelda game ever made. Yes, surpassing the seemingly god-like Ocarina of Time in popularity and poise. Though it’s been over 20 years since A Link to the Past marveled us, it’s no surprise that Nintendo has decided to revisit that version of Hyrule once again with the 3DS’ Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. With plenty of hype and legacy to live up to, does the Hero of Time stand the test of time yet again with this new adventure? Read the rest of this entry »

The Recurring Bosscast: 034: A Red Future Where Everyone Has Pink Eye

Back from Vegas and feeling excited for all things tech, this episode of the Recurring Bosscast focuses on my recent trip to the Consumer Electronics Show! There’s a companion piece you can read about the topic I’ve written as well.

4K TVs, glasses free 3D, oh… and curved everything seems to be the future of how you’re going to waste spend your money.

I even got a hands-on demo of the Oculus Rift, as well as witnessing the awesomeness that could be PlayStation Now. Listen and enjoy!

CES 2014 Extravaganza

CES 2014 LogoFor the second year in a row I was fortunate (lucky?) enough to attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas! Brimming with the latest technology, gadgets, innovations, and plenty of robots, CES was great every way you look at it. Though certainly not the biggest draw to the event but easily the biggest reason I was excited to attend were video games. While nothing mind blowing was shown (unless you want to count Sony’s PlayStation Now feature), there were some cool toys to play around with. Read the rest of this entry »

The Recurring Bosscast: 033: Birthday Cake Ice Cream

I’m super late in posting this due to being in Las Vegas for CES (which you can expect to hear about later in the week).

This episode of the Bosscast focuses on all the goodies we received for the Holidays!

Jett has a sweet new El Gato capture card for recording videos, Mat has been enjoying his brand spanking new Keurig (which I can say is absolutely amazing), and I’ve been living it up with the best the Wii U has to offer.

Death Jr Root of EvilDeath Jr.: Root of Evil
Wii
Release Date: May 27th, 2008
Purchased at: GameStop (San Jose, CA – $5)

Though GameStop didn’t hold a big Buy 2 Get 1 Free event like I was hoping they would, I still managed to snag a couple of games, starting with Death Jr.: Root of Evil on the Wii. This is actually the second Death Jr. game, with the first being on the PSP. This is also a port of the second game, also appearing first on the PSP. The Wii version offers up slightly altered gameplay mechanics, as well as changes and additions to incorporate the Wii’s motion controls. Overall the game and series aren’t the greatest around, but it’s a nice addition to the library nonetheless.

Mays Myster Forbidden MemoriesMay’s Mystery: Forbidden Memories
DS
Release Date: September 28th, 2011
Purchased at: GameStop (San Jose, CA – $5)

Oh man, FINALLY! I have been looking for this game for over a year now, and I can say the wait is over. May’s Mystery is a late DS game that clearly was inspired (copied?) the Professor Layton series. Hell, even the boxart looks just like Layton’s. The cool thing though is that the game is supposed to be pretty good. I’m happy to have found it so cheap and complete! I might have to pop this one in soon. Also, that “Forbidden Memories” subtitle was used for the Yu-Gi-Oh game on the PS1. Haha.
