I’m a bit late posting this week’s roundup, but here it is! As for a Black Friday weekend Roundup, this wasn’t too great. But still, a trio of excellent games nonetheless!
Disney Infinity 2.0
Wii U
Release Date: September 23rd, 2014
Purchased at: Target (Sunnyvale, CA – $35)
I honestly couldn’t pass up this chance to grab Disney Infinity on Wii U for so cheap,. Actually, it was on sale for every system at that price, but for some reason or another I was leaning toward the Wii U as my go to system for this one. Perhaps it was the Miiverse posts about the game that steered me the way of Nintendo. Either way, it’s sitting here in my apartment taunting me to open it up and play/waste more money on other toys. Sadly, this now completes the tri-fecta of NFC toys and games: I have Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and Nintendo’s Amiibos. *Sigh* |
Mega Man ZX
DS
Release Date: September 12th, 2006
Purchased at: Target (Sunnyvale, CA -$8)
Again, another price I couldn’t pass up. This one was the only worthwhile game in the “All Games in this Bin 50% Off” section. I was hoping they’d be foolish enough to throw in a really great game (I still don’t have New Super Mario Bros. on the DS) for this deal, but I only came out with this one. Strangely, this game is the start of another Mega Man series. At this point, I’ve no idea how any of these games connect, if they do at all. |
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Wild Cards Premium Edition
3DS
Release Date: November 25th, 2014
Purchased at: Amazon (Online – $80)
Man, up until a week or two ago I forget I even ordered this game, let alone it was coming out this week! Way back in the summer (or was it even earlier?) when this game was announced I put down my preorder. It’s essentially a crossover between the cast of Persona 3 and Persona 4 in an Etrian Odyssey style dungeon crawler. And this version comes with a whole bunch of spiffy stuff, not the least of which being those sweet tarot cards. Or should I say half of the tarot cards: included here are only half of the full set used in the actual Persona games. The get the other half you have to buy a special version of Persona 4: Arena Ultimax on the consoles. Shame on you, Atlus, for getting greedy and making me buy all your games! |

Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends
DS
Release Date: August 22nd, 2005
Purchased at: Goodwill (Cupertino, CA – $4)
I was hoping to find a lot more games this trip, but alas only a nice copy of Nintendogs showed up. I went to a new Goodwill this time (in Mountain View) and it actually had a handful of GBA games, but none worthwhile. Same thing for DS games. But it DID have some old N64 games, including a boxed, albeit beat up, copy of Yoshi Story! Also… a copy of Shaq-Fu for $7. Yeah, that’s right… SEVEN DOLLARS!!! |

I can officially say the craziness of the eBay auctions has officially ended this week. The last couple of orders have come in, and there is only one more game that I’ve ordered that I’m waiting on (which should have been here by now, because I ordered it well over two weeks ago). This week was also special because a coworker of mine actually gave me some of her old, albeit beat up, Sega Saturn games! And Laura and I made a trip to San Jose we don’t commonly make, and I was able to secure a copy of a game to finish up a DS trilogy. All around a fun week in collecting! Read the rest of this entry »

After a small vacation last weekend, I’ve combined two weeks worth of games for this Roundup. And to justify why there are so many games this week so I don’t feel too bad about myself, after the previous Roundup I also happened to buy some games, so really… it’s three week’s worth of games. That makes this massive pile of games more reasonable sounding, right?
Right?

Another fairly hefty sized haul this week continues the recent trend of ridiculous amounts of games being accumulated each week! And just like last week there’s a mix of GameStop finds and eBay pick-ups. I have decided that I need to slow down on the eBay buys. Not really because of the money issue, but because I’ve not been getting the greatest deals on some of these games. And yeah, the money does make a difference. So from now on I’ve decided I’m going to look online for some stuff, but just throw out some low-ball bids and see what happens. Strangely enough, it’s already amounted to 4 games :p So get ready for another huge Roundup next week. Read the rest of this entry »

A strange week this week. I can’t recall any other week in which I bought this many loose games (garage sales notwithstanding). As the DS is reaching the last few months of its lifespan at retailers shelves, the likelihood of finding any games complete anymore is a dream which only occasionally comes to fruition. With that in mind, I decided to peruse the loose DS game stacks at three separate GameStop’s and came up with some great finds! Now I’m actually curious about other loose finds at other stores, so I think I’m going to be looking through those racks more often. Oh, and more games from eBay! Yay!! Read the rest of this entry »

Usually within a week I grab a few games from one, maybe two locations. But this week I was able to pick up a bunch of games from a lot of different places! GameStop, Amazon, another GameStop, and a trio of games from eBay! And, of course, seeing as this is “Smash Bros. Week”, I had to pick up my copy of Super Smash Bros for 3DS last Friday. It’s what I have been sinking all of my time into, so much so that I actually developed a small sore on the right thumb! Anyhow, if I have any luck, I’ll try to hit up a different GameStop today, one that I usually have good luck with and one that I don’t get to frequent all too often. So here we go. More games from eBay, a few from Amazon, and a live stream to boot! This week saw the last of the eBay purchases come in, which is nice, because these lots had some of the games I cared about the most. Also, Hyrule Warriors gave me another solid reason to play my Wii U after Mario Kart 8 a few months back. Let’s get right into this weeks’ games! Read the rest of this entry »

All kinds of craziness this week and last has lead to me not only getting a ton of new video games, but also having no time at all to post about them! Lucky for you, faithful readers, I’ll be posting two Sunday Roundups this week! On another side note, I realized after setting up my photography studio thingy that I missed five games to include in this week’s collection picture to the left! I’ve added them down below, but just a heads up. Also, this week, and especially next, i picked up a ton of games from eBay. Usually I swear of the site, but for the past few months (maybe even a year or so) I’ve been awfully dry in the game collecting market. I decided to take a stab at securing some of those harder to find titles online, and I was met with great success! Unfortunately, now that means I’m going to be shopping/wasting money on eBay more frequently now, which isn’t the best thing to happen… Read the rest of this entry »

Honeycomb Beat
DS
Release Date: March 27th, 2007
Purchased at: Online (Amazon – $4)
In my usual perusing of Amazon’s wares I discovered this game was only $4, with Prime shipping! A brand new game for less than $5 is always a great deal, especially when it’s a game I’m genuinely curious about. Honeycomb Beat is a rhythm game that uses hexagons and tapping on the touch screen to keep the rhythm. Reviews are pointing out the game isn’t the greatest and may be better off as a minigame in a bigger collection of games, but I’m still very happy to call it my own! |
Mad Dog Mccree: Gunslinger Pack
Wii
Release Date: June 16th, 2009
Purchased at: Online (eBay – $8)
Call me crazy, but I’ve been eying this game for a long time now. Searching through Amazon’s listings, GameStop’s relatively useless online directory, and finally eBay’s hit-or-miss auctions, I was finally able to track down the game on someone’s poorly listed auction. I say poorly listed because they didn’t show any pictures an instead opted to just give descriptions of the product. Thankfully, the game is complete, albeit with a few stickers that’ll have to be removed, but that’s it. Mad Dog McCree itself is a collection of live-action shooting games from the 90’s. So yeah, it’s gonna be bad. |
