The 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo has officially come and gone, and left in it’s wake are mountains of exciting games to play, systems that look a hell of a lot better, and gamers who are proud to pronounce their hobby to any and all. Last year’s show was filled with announcements about the next generation consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, so this year it was expected that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would put out plenty of new software to go with that shiny new hardware. These ten moments were the defining times of E3 2014, and the games I am most excited to play. Read the rest of this entry »

Top Ten Dream E3 2014 Predictions
In what might be the only tradition I have here at SlickGaming, we are one week away from the 2014 Electronics Entertainment Expo, which means it’s time for some dream predictions! I’ve come to realize that while these are mostly in good fun, they are all actually things I really would like to see come out of the show. Interestingly enough, some of these predictions have come true (more or less): Nintendo has actually made significant progress in the online gaming department, and the PS4 and, more recently, the Kinect-Free Xbox One do indeed retail for under $400! Two out of twenty isn’t that bad, right?
Without delay, here are my predictions for this year’s show! Read the rest of this entry »
Sunday Roundup: 3/9/14
This week’s Sunday Roundup has been long overdue, with all of the games actually coming into my collection prior to last Sunday. But, seeing as I was busy with work and a multitude of other tasks last week, I wasn’t able to get it written until today. Nonetheless, there are eight games here spanning seven systems. I kind of like it when they’re all for different systems: it’s like spreading out the wealth amongst the lonely consoles. And whenever I can procure a GameCube game I feel even better about the purchase!

Jet called it in a tweet last week: I think we doomed SimCity.
After the game was released it was plagued with issues concerning connectivity, gameplay performance, and more. After talking highly of the series and it’s future on the last Bosscast I am more than upset the game has stumbled right out of the gate.
In other news, there are some games on sale you can swipe if you’re fast. And apparently there’s a Professor Layton manga I can must spend all of my money importing. Read the rest of this entry »
Yearly Roundup: 2012
Another year draws to a close and 2013 is right in front of us. What better way to look back on the year that was 2012 than reliving each and every game purchase of the year! You may recall last year I did something very similar at the end of the year, but this time around it’s a bit more special. 2012 was Slick Gaming’s first full calendar year being a live blog (a feat I still can’t grasp entirely). That means a lot of things, like more posts and features than before, but it also means an entire year’s worth of new games chronicled in the Sunday Roundup feature. Let’s start out in January and take a look back at the year in games! Read the rest of this entry »

What happened last week? Something big… something noteworthy…
Something. Ugh, I can’t think of it.

Oh yeah! The Wii U was released, and that’s pretty much what every news piece concerning games related to this week. Still though, some stories sneaked through the Wii U dominance and caught my eye as well this week. Read the rest of this entry »
The Recurring Bosscast: 002 – Play Place Smell
Episode 2 of the Recurring Bosscast is now live!
This time around we discuss the big games coming out in November; namely Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Halo 4. And by discuss, I mean dissect why none of us are buying these games and what that means.
Also on topic are some meh iOS games, Professor Layton, Virtue’s Last Reward, Assassin’s Creed III, and more!

Sunday Roundup: 11/4/12
3DS games galore this week in the Sunday Roundup! I actually got all three of these games on Monday, yet I’ve only had time to play one of them (Two guesses which one!). Still though, expect to see full reviews of each game in the coming weeks.
Also note that this is a strong outing for 3DS games in general. The system finally has a strong library forming behind it, giving the vanilla DS a very well deserved successor. These games are all great, and if you’re on the fence on switching to the 3DS, I think the time is right and it’s only going to be getting better. Read the rest of this entry »

So apparently there’s going to be a Borderlands game for iOS? And what’s better is that it’s coming out next week! I’ve already got my five bucks ready to throw away for this one.
On to other news: the newest Professor Layton is looking sharper than ever, PAX expands to Australia, and Zynga isn’t doing so well. Read the rest of this entry »
