Sunday Roundup: 6/23/13

New Games (6-23-13)

Wow, it’s been quite some time since the last Sunday Roundup! I believe one month might be a record for a draught between entries, but seeing as the last one was extravagant and this one is full of quality games and deals, I think the wait is justified. This week’s games come to us from a dying Blockbuster Video. It’s always sad to see a store closing for good, but honestly I was surprised there were any Blockbuster’s still around. On top of that, this store looked crazy old, like it had been around for decades. Anyway, a few good games this week, and all of them still newish.

The Recurring Bosscast: 011 – BioVania

Episode 011 LogoThis week’s Bosscast topic is Bioshock and all things related.

Somehow the topic of Bioshock got Jett, Mat, and myself discussing video game movies, remembering anything worthwhile about Bioshock 2, and the awesome that will never happen in the Castlevania-Bioshock crossover. We can only hope.

Also this week Mat and I diverge on our mutual dislike of Castlevania: Mirror of Fate, and Jett explains why Darkstalkers Resurrection is a competent 2D fighting collection.

Top Ten Games To Watch For In 2013

While there will be dozens of games adored and loved by gamers this year, here are 10 titles that I’m particularly excited to see and play. Each of these games range in target audience, platform, genre, and concept, but all of them are shaping up to be future best sellers, award winners, and possible candidates for truly memorable and classic video games. Machinima LogoYou might be thinking, “Jsick, it’s the end of the year, surely the only news to report on is Game of the Year stories from around the internet?” Well faithful reader, you’d be disappointed to know that I am not reporting anything this week on GotY shenanigans. Not yet at least.

Gaming News: 12/1/12

Wii Mini ConsoleThe sales are over, Cyber week is wrapping up, and we can get back to the standard Gaming News formula. No one would care to buy that. Oh wait.. apparently hundreds of thousands of people did.

Huh.. Read the rest of this entry »
