Top Ten Series that Need amiibo

Super Mario series amiibo

Something I’ve touched on surprisingly only a small bit are Nintendo’s NFC amiibo figures. To put into perspective how I feel about amiibo, let’s just say I have had friends shop around for me to get the more expensive ones back when amiibo were the hottest toys this side of Furby and Tickle Me Elmo. Out of all the toys-to-life options out there, I feel like Nintendo’s offerings are the coolest, if only because I (like many others) grew up with a lot of these characters. Also, while I love me some Skylanders, I think amiibo have a wider function in games, making them more of an investment than essentially an extra life or character in Skylanders and Disney Infinity. That being said, and in typical Nintendo fashion, there are more than a handful of series’ deserving of the amiibo treatment that haven’t seen the light of day. Though most of these will never happen, we can dream, and I can wish for some of these games to come out sooner rather than later! Read the rest of this entry »

Top Ten Franchises Nintendo Needs to Resurrect

Nintendo Characters

Nintendo is synonymous with the video game industry. For decades now, lots of folk have been calling video games in general Nintendo games, despite the games they’re sometimes referencing are exclusive to consoles other than Nintendo’s. You don’t become that iconic without a handful of recognizable and influential series’ and characters under your belt. Nintendo’s got tons of big hitters, not the least of which being the red capped Mario and pals, Pikachu and the other hundreds of Pokemon, and the epic adventures of a young boy named Link, but they’ve also got some other franchises that for whatever reason just don’t get enough love. Included in this list are the games that Nintendo seems to have forgot they made. For every one of these games we got 10 Mario’s. With the 3DS and Wii U bringing back a good amount of old classics like Star Fox and Fire Emblem, here’s hoping the ten following entries will see some love from Nintendo in the near future.

Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1 Video Review

By now you all likely know the first chunk of DLC for Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8 is here. It has three new characters for your racing pleasure, including Link from the Legend of Zelda series, as well as a few new karts to use, and eight brand new tracks! To help take it all in, I’ve created a review video breaking down all the new content, what’s good, what isn’t, and why you should pick it up if you haven’t already!

Laters,

Top Ten Dream E3 2014 Predictions

E3 2014 Logo

In what might be the only tradition I have here at SlickGaming, we are one week away from the 2014 Electronics Entertainment Expo, which means it’s time for some dream predictions! I’ve come to realize that while these are mostly in good fun, they are all actually things I really would like to see come out of the show. Interestingly enough, some of these predictions have come true (more or less): Nintendo has actually made significant progress in the online gaming department, and the PS4 and, more recently, the Kinect-Free Xbox One do indeed retail for under $400! Two out of twenty isn’t that bad, right?

Without delay, here are my predictions for this year’s show! Read the rest of this entry »
