I had to work at a different location this past week and it was in a large complex that also happened to contain a rather large GameStop. If you recall last week’s Sunday Roundup you’ll remember that a few sales were happening at the chain, namely a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal and a 3 for $10 sale. Seeing as Monday was a holiday most of those deals were extended through Labor Day, so I took advantage once again! Honestly through, these were extremely good finds that I may have just bought for the hell of it without any sale. And I must say, my Wii collection has been steadily growing the past months and it’s starting to get filled with some quality titles! Go watch my Game Hunter video on the Wii to learn why that’s been happening. Read the rest of this entry »

Something must have been burning a hole in my pocket because I spent quite a few dollars on games this week. I say something because it’s not like I was sitting on a pile of money that I could spend willy nilly on whatever I wanted. At least I can take solace in knowing that I bought these games on sale and saved a few bucks that way. Yeah, we’ll go with that…

Riding on the coattails of Scrooge McDuck and the HD remake of the NES classic DuckTales, I’ve been reminiscing about a lot of games from my childhood. And while yesteryear is strangely something I think about far more than a normal person should, this time I was beginning to wonder what some of my other favorite titles growing up would look like in glorious high definition. Though it’s strictly speculation and quite literally most of these will never be possible, it was fun to think of what could be. What should be, perhaps? But nonetheless, here are the top ten games that need HD remakes! Read the rest of this entry »

The remake.
It’s been around for years and it has become more common for a developer or publisher to remake or re-release their titles for a new generation to play and enjoy. Many of these games are vanilla ports of their original versions but there are a few that I can say are better than their originals. Needless to say these games are worth your time and will leave you feeling both excited and nostalgic.

Apparently Nintendo is too good for E3 and decided to present some announcements this week that easily could have made up for some of the sub-par presentations the company did during the convention. No matter, we have bigger things to take care of, like the first DLC for Mass Effect 3, and a big detail about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. title.
And oh yeah, a new Professor Layton game is coming to North American 3DS owners. Finally…

What can be better than owning a ton of video games?
Owning a one video game that has a TON of video games all packed in to one disc!
The game compilation is an ideal way for publishers to re-release games and have gamers pay for them all over again, but it is also a great way for gamers to experience titles they may have missed or otherwise skipped over from years past. While some packages are just thrown together without any thought, others are done well and are deserving of your dollar. Here is my list of video game compilations that are very much worth checking out.

A light week in terms of new games, but a great week when looking at what the games are! Both are PS1 titles. One is a lot more recognizable than the other, but the other is a big winner in my book.

I’ve got an experiment for you. Try and find me any gamer that doesn’t have at least one strong memory about the soundtrack of a game. You can’t do it. As endearing as the story in many a Final Fantasy, or the excellent gameplay of titles like Uncharted 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3, music in games has left an undeniable impact on gamers. Whether it’s the blips and bleeps of the Atari 2600, the MIDI music from the SNES, or the fully orchestrated masterpieces heard in the current generation of consoles, music has played an ever important role in shaping a video game. I want to take this time to share some of my personal favorites from my gaming past. I highly encourage you to sit back, pump up the volume, and bask in the warmth that a finely tuned gaming song can give you.

Why do people just stand still, looking solemnly into your eyes with a cold gaze of death?
Or how about explaining why sleeping outside on the ground can miraculously heal any and all wounds, no matter the severity?
And what about no one seeming to care that there are people carrying around weapons and ammunition to initiate a small war at any given second?
These are the questions that are never asked when playing a Role-Playing Game, yet they are always there in the back of your head, eating away at your thoughts long after the console has been turned off. Most of these issues are just components of the RPG itself, but some of them simply don’t make any damn sense. Here are ten unexplained, bizarre, and truly peculiar themes in RPGs.
