Easily my favorite episode so far! Collecting for the Sega Dreamcast is just plain fun. There are so many unique finds for the system every game you get will be worth it. I highly recommend collecting for this fantastic console!

When amassing a collection there are lots of things to keep in mind: budget, game types, condition, the list goes on. But what happens when you run out of room to store all your games? Or worse, when you’re at a store holding up a copy of a game and you can’t for the life of you remember if you already own it? Episode 04 of Game Hunter is here to help you out of this difficult situation!

Game Hunter’s Journal: Thrift Shops
It should be no surprise that thrift shops like Goodwill and Salvation Army are locations to hunt for games: I’ve already talked of them in the past. If looking for the cheapest deals on video games, consoles, accessories, and everything in between, then thrift stores should become your new hangout of choice. Not only do these store sell games, they sell games on the cheap, regardless of rarity, popular price, and condition. A good deal of luck will play a role in whether or not you walk out the finger-smudged sliding glass doors with a gem in your hand or with nothing at all, but for a game collector on a budget, thrift shops need to be on your radar.
Game Hunter 03: Spotting Fakes
The absolute worst thing that can ever happen to a collector! Fake games, pirated games, or bootleg games, whatever you prefer to call them, they’re all bad. Thankfully, there are plenty of simple tips to have in mind when looking for a game’s authenticity!
Game Hunter’s Journal: Magic Price
I’ve discussed the “Magic Price” with Jett and Mat on an episode of the Recurring Bosscast (which you should listen to right now!), but I wanted to touch I the topic again. Buying games isn’t cheap, but if you are patient and work under the confines of your own budget, you can own piles of games that will keep you occupied for the foreseeable future. Not to mention amass a collection to make the rest of your gaming buddies jealous.
Game Hunter Episode 02: Greatest Hits
For your collecting pleasure, here is Episode 02 of Game Hunter, focusing on Greatest Hits games. Episode 02 deals with Green Label and Black Label games, how to spot the differences on game discs, and some tips for buying online. Enjoy!
Game Hunter Episode 01: New, Loose, and Complete
I’m super excited to present to you all the inaugural episode of Game Hunter, a new series focusing on video game collecting! If you’ve been following Slick Gaming you’re already aware of my passion for game collecting. It’s been in the works now for awhile, but Game Hunter is now a reality!
The first episode focuses on starting out your collection, and deciding what you want to buy: new games, loose games, and/or complete games. In the video I give explanations for each, give some reasons why you may or may not want to pursue a certain route, and share extra knowledge about general game collecting. I’m working on new episodes already, and I’m thrilled to be able to pass on some of my experiences to you. Enjoy!
*I’m not happy with the sound quality of this one, so in future episodes I’ll be addressing that issue. Criticism and praise is highly appreciated :)*
