Review: SteamWorld Dig

SteamWorld Dig Banner

Admittedly, I don’t delve too deep into the Indie scene. Not for a lack of interest: there are plenty of games that interest me, but for this reason or that, I never seem to play any of them. Maybe it’s because my time is taken up by the big budget titles that seem to be coming out in steady succession these past few months. And then there is SteamWorld Dig: A Fistful of Dirt on the 3DS. Combining the best elements of Metroid and, umm… digging (?), SteamWorld Dig has forever changed my outlook on the Indie game. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Mutant Mudds

Mutant Mudds Header

Whether you actually grew up in the 80’s or 90’s and can claim to have played video games during their “glory days”, there are plenty of current gen titles that let you relive the style of yesteryear. Take Mutant Mudds for examples. It’s a side scrolling, 8-bit action/platformer with a high degree of difficulty and plenty of challenge. Review: Color Bind

Games today are measured by a lot of criteria: quality of visuals, clarity of sound, ease of control, implementation of multiplayer, and the list goes on. It can be hard to measure a game solely by its gameplay with all these other portions jumping for your attention. Colour Bind is a new PC indie game available on Steam that keeps the focus on puzzle solving and bold visuals, for better or for worse. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Yesterday

Can you tell me everything you did yesterday? And I do mean everything: did you eat two slices of pizza for dinner or three? Did you wear a blue shirt or a white shirt? Did you jump off a silo and crash through the window of a building?

Yesterday is a point-and-click adventure game that’s full of mystery, murder, and one man’s resolve to find out who he really is. It’s not too often you see this style of game nowadays, but Yesterday does give players a unique experience, even if it’s one that’s far too short.

The Humble Indie Bundle and Why You Should Buy It

As the holiday season is already in full swing and Christmas is right around the corner, I have been in a spirited mood as of late. No doubt many people like the holidays because of the gifts they’ll receive (I know love it for that reason), but an equal or greater number of people like to give more than receive. As 2011 comes to an end, we as gamers can help out those that really need it this holiday season, and we can score some truly amazing games in the process.
