E3 2013 Logo Day 1The annual Electronics Entertainment Expo (more commonly abbreviated to E3) held in Los Angeles, California is one of the world’s biggest showcases for video games. It’s the big stage for developers, publishers, and game companies to show off their newest titles, what they’re currently working on, and entice the consumer with plenty of surprise announcement, unexpected  blunders, and everything between. This year was no exception, with handfuls of huge announcements, not the least of which concerning the newest video game consoles, Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. The Bosscast is back with a special episode discussing the reveal of Microsoft’s Xbox One!

Mat, Jett, and I thrown down our thoughts about the games (or lack there of), tech behind the console, and even the design choice of the box itself. There’s some positives and a lot of negatives from a group of gamers that feel left behind as Microsoft moves forward.

Gut Reaction to the Xbox One Reveal

Xbox One SystemFollowing the announcement of the successor to the Xbox 360 known as the Xbox One, reactions have been a jumbled collection of excitement, speculation of the future, questions about what was seen and what wasn’t seen, and a sense of wonder about the whole thing. So in other words, job well done to Microsoft for getting the community talking about their next box.

From a gamer’s standpoint however, I’m not entirely sure I’m on board at all with the Xbox One. My gut reaction is telling me to wait this thing about and see what the Xbox One delivers in the future, but as of right now there’s some questions I want answered. Read the rest of this entry »

Yearly Roundup: 2011

As 2011 comes to an end, I thought it would be a cool idea to look back at the year in games. Specifically, the year in games added to my ever-growing library. If you’re a frequent visitor to the site (I greatly hope you are!) you’ll no doubt know I do a weekly blog post about my newest games. So below I’ve collected every game I added this year (well, really only half-year, because I started this blog in late July). I’ve also linked any relevant posts I’ve done about said games, like reviews, Modern Classics, and gameplay videos. Enjoy the small retrospective, and here’s to another fantastic year in gaming in 2012!

What Makes A Game “Rare”?

To follow up on my last post about video game collecting, I wanted to go through some of the games in my collection and discuss why they are considered to be “rare.” A game can fluctuate in price fairly easily and the cause of this change can originate from many different places, not the least of which being scarcity of the item. So as a collector, what do you need to look for in a game, and more importantly, what games should you look for to add that special gem to your collection.
