A brand new Legend of Zelda comic was released last week. Well, not exactly brand new: it’s a re-release of a 12-part saga originally seen in Nintendo Power back in the 90’s. But for the first time in a long time it’s been bound together in a near 200 page full color novel. Based on the Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and written and drawn by famous manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori, the grand adventure spins the familiar storyline and adds new characters, plot developments, and some lighthearted humor to make the tale unique. It is with a lump in my throat and a sad heart that I have to create this article. Nintendo Power, the gaming magazine beloved by generations of Nintendo fans and video game lovers alike, has come to an end. After 22 years, 285 issues, every Nintendo console to date, and thousands upon thousands of games, the magazine has bowed out of the printed market and the online market entirely, and will be fondly remembered in countless gamers’ hearts for many reasons. I only felt it necessary that I pay my respects to the periodical that I took so much from. The sales are over, Cyber week is wrapping up, and we can get back to the standard Gaming News formula. And by that I mean news about games that are coming out, updates to games, and important snippets you should know about. Not just those silly sales like an Xbox 36o with three games for $250. No one would care to buy that. Oh wait.. apparently hundreds of thousands of people did.
But in brighter news, there’s a sequel to Plants vs. Zombies coming, and maybe one to The World Ends With You. Oh, and the new Star Trek game, tied in with J. J. Abrams’ film, looks pretty sweet in a brand new trailer. Set phasers to FUN!
