The Nintendo 3DS has a basket full of features: it can display stereoscopic 3D images without the use of glasses, the system is capable of handling software that is visually comparable to the Wii, and it fits in your pocket. Perhaps the most underused (?) but most awesome features the system has is StreetPass. Tagging someone with the system’s detection ability and then playing a game with that person’s Mii character has always been fun, and getting bonus content in select 3DS games is even cooler. But with the addition of four brand new downloadable StreetPass games to play, Nintendo has made carrying your handheld with you even more exciting! Not all the bonus games are incredibly fun, but there’s enough content and enjoyment to be had to easily warrant a purchase. Read the rest of this entry »
I’m proud to announce that A World of Games, my Tumblr blog featuring photos and videos of all the arcades I visit, has been completely redone! A new theme, tons of new photos, and a sleeker presentation mean you’ll be viewing the arcade scene in style! Be sure to check it out, follow, and enjoy!
Here’s a sneak peak at some of the new content. I recently visited Santa Cruz, California. Specifically the famed Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, where they had plenty of old time (and some new) arcade games. I suppose I should have expected as much from a location founded over 100 years ago! Reminisce and have fun!

It has been a hobby of mine for the last several years to collect arcade tokens and tickets. When ever I am out and happen to see an arcade, I try to stop in to first see what they have to offer, and second to see if they have any tickets or tokens to add to my collection. After more than 10 years of doing this, I was surprised both by the variety in coins/tickets I’ve found, and also the rise of the game card as arcade currency. I finally got around to photographing my collection and even created a Tumblr account to house all my pics. But I wanted to share with you all what I’ve got so far, and to open up your eyes to the strangely beautiful world of video arcade memorabilia.
I’ve never actually bought the Angry Birds game(s) on the iPhone even though I’ve had the phone for over two years now. Even if you don’t have the game, or an iPhone, you’ve undoubtedly heard about Angry Birds. They’re everywhere, infecting every store, advertisement, clothes, and nearly everything in between. My nine year old nephew, who doesn’t have an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, still is in love with the game (he plays on my parents iPad), and he loves everything Angry Birds. Needless to say, it was an avian Christmas this year for him, and one gift he received was the Angry Birds card game. I’ve played the game a few times with him and our family and thought to myself, “You know who should know about this game? Anyone that reads my blog, that’s who!” Here’s a review of the card game that is surprisingly fun and easy to play.
A brand new Kirby game is upon us, and thankfully Kirby has returned to both the consoles and his sucking roots (Sucking in a good way). Kirby’s Return to Dream Land is the first true Kirby game on the consoles since the Nintendo 64 title Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards released way back in 2000. So how has the game been so far? Read on, my good friends, read on.
