I recently got my hands on Tetris; The Card Game and was able to get a few good games in over the past two weeks. Though it’s not entirely like it’s video game counter-part, the card game is a fun spin-off of the main franchise. I’ve put together a short video going over the basics and what makes the game fun and cool. Enjoy!

A nice variety of games this week, thanks to a visit to a Disc Replay store I don’t often get to venture out to. Granted, it’s not the best DR store I’ve seen, but sometimes they’ve got some good deals (like this past week!). On top of that I was happy to find that the new local used game store in my hometown must have received some business, because there were plenty of new titles to choose from. I only grabbed one this time, but I can easily see myself blowing a great deal of cash there soon (and I’ll be extremely happy to do so). This brings my total game count to well over 900, and I expect to hit 1000 by years end for sure. Oh god I feel horrible… so much money!

The first roundup of the new year, and it’s a rare one for me. I am not one to buy game for systems haphazardly, though it may appear otherwise. I usually stick to my plan and buy games to add to my collection. But how often do you find complete in box Nintendo Entertainment System games? Freaking never!

As 2011 comes to an end, I thought it would be a cool idea to look back at the year in games. Specifically, the year in games added to my ever-growing library. If you’re a frequent visitor to the site (I greatly hope you are!) you’ll no doubt know I do a weekly blog post about my newest games. So below I’ve collected every game I added this year (well, really only half-year, because I started this blog in late July). I’ve also linked any relevant posts I’ve done about said games, like reviews, Modern Classics, and gameplay videos. Enjoy the small retrospective, and here’s to another fantastic year in gaming in 2012!

Merry Christmas everyone!
Not really a tradition and more so my tastes don’t really change, every Christmas I usually receive a few video games from my family. This year was no exception, and I am eternally grateful and pleased that my loved ones get me any gifts, let alone games that I really want to play! Here’s what 2011 did for Jsick this Christmas.

To follow up on my last post about video game collecting, I wanted to go through some of the games in my collection and discuss why they are considered to be “rare.” A game can fluctuate in price fairly easily and the cause of this change can originate from many different places, not the least of which being scarcity of the item. So as a collector, what do you need to look for in a game, and more importantly, what games should you look for to add that special gem to your collection.

One of the most exciting part about being a gamer is the joy of finding a new game. It’s always great when a new title comes out, especially for a series you’ve played in the past and enjoyed (like Marvel vs. Capcom 3), but I’m talking about when you find an older game. One you’ve been looking to find for a long time. One that might be a rare spectacle in and of itself. These are the exciting moments I’m talking about. After eight or so years, I think I’ve amassed quite a collection of titles, and I’ve learned a good deal from my experiences. If you’re thinking of starting a collection, already have a pile of games sitting around, or just want to learn the best ways to get the games you’re looking for, this article is for you.

What does half off PS2 games at GameStop mean?
It’s time to pick up those expensive games you’ve always wanted.
And what were those games, you ask?

As stated before, I picked up the first two Bloody Roar games a few weeks back and have been enjoying them since. I recently completed a run through off the first game and have moved on to the second. Playing the two games in sequence was actually quite fun: I noticed the enhancements that were made, the additions and tweaks that changed the game for the better, and the strange omission of other intricacies. Oh yeah, and I also beat this game, too.

Glorious day!
As luck would have it, a brand new, independently owned used video game store opened up right here in my home town! What are the odds?! No, I’m serious: what are they? Who is honestly opening up a used game store to rival that of Disc Replay or GameStop?
Well, whatever his reasons may be, I for one am exceedingly happy to have a carrier of old games located in my home town finally. I was happy to be one of his first customers on his first day. Let’s get on with things then, shall we?
