This blog has been relatively quite as of late, but that doesn’t mean I’ve been holding back on anything! Over the past month, we visited a trio of arcades, some better than others, and I’ve been playing plenty of new games, even some time with Far Cry 4 on the PS4! But this post is all about arcades! There were just too many awesome games and great artwork to pass up. I wanted to share with you some of the coolest shots, and some of my favorite arcade games!
And don’t forget, if you want more arcade action, be sure to follow my tumblr blog aworldofgames.tumblr.com to get even more arcade game, tokens, tickets, and information!

All the excitement and buildup to the year’s biggest video game show has come and gone, and left in its wake are dozens of new game announcements, trailers, demos, and press conferences. On the whole I felt this year’s E3 dwells in comparisons to last years (which may stem from my Nintendo fandom), but nonetheless there were plenty of great experiences to take away from this years show. Even if Capcom didn’t announce Power Stone 3 yet. Read the rest of this entry »
It should come as no surprise to anyone who has played video game for more than a few years that you just can’t play them all. No matter how hard you have tried, you can’t fit in each video game that releases in a year into your play rotation. Video games aren’t like movies: they can’t be seen and completed in a few short hours (at least most of them). They aren’t as easy to come by in some instances. And sometimes they simply don’t fit into your budget.
For this reason or that, we all have games that we’ve never gotten around to playing. Triple A games, too. The games that may have defined a generation. The games that people are still talking about to this day. The games that you kind of have to just shake your head at when others are discussing around you because you have no idea what is going on.
These are those games. Below you will find the shame of my gaming expertise. These are the games I’ve never played. At least as of yet. Read the rest of this entry »
We’ve all been there: perusing the goods on sites like eBay or maybe even Craigslist and coming across someone selling a collection of games for a decent price. Sure, you probably don’t want all of the games there, but some of them are just too good to pass up! So what should you do? As a collector, video game lots can be a huge win or a very risky and sometimes poor jump to take. Here are some tips to keep in mind when thinking of purchasing video game lots. Easily my favorite episode so far! Collecting for the Sega Dreamcast is just plain fun. There are so many unique finds for the system every game you get will be worth it. I highly recommend collecting for this fantastic console!
It seems even Sonic the Hedgehog, the “fastest thing alive,” enjoys getting behind the wheel from time to time. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is Sonic and company’s second racing outing after 2010’s Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. The majority of the game is similar to the first: you can play as Sonic and many other familiar Sega faces as you race around tracks based on popular Sega franchises. In short it’s another case of “whatever Mario can do, Sonic can do better” from Sega. But Mario Kart this is not. Read the rest of this entry »
I wish we could solve all our problems by dancing them away like in Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure. Forgot my money at home and need to pay a bill? Just dance and serve food. Need to enter your dog in the dog show but missed the deadline? Well just bark in rhythm with a poodle to gain entrance. Or my favorite, if you’ve found yourself outside of a prestigious event in Paris, improperly dressed, and without a ticket for admission, simply play a few chords on the violin and bam, you’re in. Unfortunately our world isn’t full of that much pizzazz but at least we now have Rhythm King & the Emperor’s Treasure to play on our 3DS’. Read the rest of this entry »
A little bit Elite Beat Agents, a little bit Professor Layton, and a good sense of originality and you’ve got Sega’s new 3DS title Rhythm Thief & The Emperor’s Treasure. Unfortunately I’ve missed out on Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy so far (though I will purchase that bad boy soon), bu thankfully this second 3DS exclusive rhythm game has kept my attention these past few days. Here’s what Rhythm Thief has going for it so far…
I did it for one of my favorite genres (the fighter) and I’ve got to do it for another genre close to my heart, the puzzle game. Whether you’re connecting colored gems, filling in gaps, solving brain teaser, or shooting shiny balls at other shiny balls, the puzzle game is a staple to the video game community that isn’t going anywhere. And with so many excellent games to sink your teeth into it can be hard to determine which games offer the best challenge, the most addictive gameplay, and the most satisfaction upon completion. Vol 3 of Worth Playing is here, so let’s get this underway.
