The Recurring Bosscast: 034: A Red Future Where Everyone Has Pink Eye

Back from Vegas and feeling excited for all things tech, this episode of the Recurring Bosscast focuses on my recent trip to the Consumer Electronics Show! There’s a companion piece you can read about the topic I’ve written as well.

4K TVs, glasses free 3D, oh… and curved everything seems to be the future of how you’re going to waste spend your money.

I even got a hands-on demo of the Oculus Rift, as well as witnessing the awesomeness that could be PlayStation Now. Listen and enjoy!

CES 2014 Extravaganza

CES 2014 LogoFor the second year in a row I was fortunate (lucky?) enough to attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas! Brimming with the latest technology, gadgets, innovations, and plenty of robots, CES was great every way you look at it. Though certainly not the biggest draw to the event but easily the biggest reason I was excited to attend were video games. While nothing mind blowing was shown (unless you want to count Sony’s PlayStation Now feature), there were some cool toys to play around with. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Foul Play

Foul Play LogoGather ‘round my friends, and let’s listen to the gentlemanly tales of Baron Dashforth and his companion Mr. Scampwick. Stories full of skullduggery, malicious villains, and the most treacherous foe of all… repetition! Foul Play is a side scrolling beat ‘em up disguised as a theatre performance. While some innovative ideas separate the game from others in its genre, Foul Play is held back from greatness by simple combat and repetitive gameplay. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy

Nothing ruins your day more than an evil overlord kidnapping your nation’s princess and threatening the utter destruction of your land in just a few moments. And what if you don’t have the time to get out there and rescue her, uncover the ultimate weapons needed to slay a massive beast guarding the entrance to the evil bosses lair, and knock out the evil overlord for good? If that’s the case then you’ll be happy to know you can do all of that in less than one minute in Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy on PC. Read the rest of this entry »

Review: Color Bind

Games today are measured by a lot of criteria: quality of visuals, clarity of sound, ease of control, implementation of multiplayer, and the list goes on. It can be hard to measure a game solely by its gameplay with all these other portions jumping for your attention. Seldom a game comes out that strips all these distractions away and focuses entirely on solid, addictive gameplay. Colour Bind is a new PC indie game available on Steam that keeps the focus on puzzle solving and bold visuals, for better or for worse. Read the rest of this entry »

This Week in Gaming News: 8/12/12 – 8/19/12

Relatively slow week this week. At least for the news that mattered to me.

But still though, hearing that us Americans will be getting an official, English release of the Legend of Zelda history book is more than enough good news for one week!
