E3 has come and gone (you can read all about it here!) and with it the looming feeling in the Microsoft camp that something didn’t go so well.
And then the reversal happened.
A huge surprise to everyone in the gaming media and even parts of technology outlets in general, Microsoft announced they were doing away with DRM and a few of the key components of the upcoming Xbox One. Naturally, Jett (refreshed after a trip to Cuba), Mat, and myself weigh in on the topic and dub the Xbox One the Xbox 180.

E3 2013 has come and gone. By many standards it was what we’d come to expect from the expo: new game announcements, news on all kinds of projects, and some exclusive trailers, demos, and videos. But just about everyone can agree that this year’s E3 went above and beyond the expectations of most in attendance. It wasn’t just about the games this year: it was about the consoles and how they affect the gamers. It was about a change in the way we game and how our hobby will change moving forward. It was about publishers making games that gamers wanted to play. And above all, it was about glorifying our hobby and giving us an undeniable outlet to look at and say without wavering that we’re proud to be gamers. These ten announcements are just the tip of the events that made E3 2013 so memorable, and what you should be most excited for. Read the rest of this entry »

The final day of the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo has come to an end. Every E3 supplies us with thrills and excitement over upcoming games, newly announced IPs, and titles that we otherwise would have never heard of before. With the addition this year of the new consoles (the Xbox One and PlayStation 4) and the mountains of talk and news they brought, this year’s E3 felt like a rollercoaster ride that was nothing but ups. Most of the news has died down as the show has dwindled to its last day, so I’m going to highlight a few games that stood out at this years show, and present you with gameplay trailers, content videos, and even some demos of the games that were shown off on the floor. If you can’t make it to E3 (one day I’ll make it there!) then this is your best shot of experiencing what it’s like in the madness. Read the rest of this entry »

Just one day left for this year’s E3! The major press conferences are over, so we can assume that there won’t be any more surprises this year (which is always sad, but there is so much to be happy about already!). With today over and tomorrow being the last for this year’s expo, most outlets are playing demons, interviewing developers, and finding out a few extra details about games and consoles. Tomorrow I’ll wrap up with a bunch of trailers, gameplay vids, and more, but for today, eat up these fine morsels of gaming goodness!

Nintendo held their “Press Conference” for E3 this year via a new Nintendo Direct video. Though it lacked the on-stage flair many E3 press conferences ooze, it still provided us with plenty of new games and announcements, with the top of the list being news about the next Super Smash Bros. title. Today was technically the first day of the actual expo, so we were also given a lot of hands-on impressions and demos, as well as some new gameplay trailers and info on both games and systems.

The annual Electronics Entertainment Expo (more commonly abbreviated to E3) held in Los Angeles, California is one of the world’s biggest showcases for video games. It’s the big stage for developers, publishers, and game companies to show off their newest titles, what they’re currently working on, and entice the consumer with plenty of surprise announcement, unexpected blunders, and everything between. This year was no exception, with handfuls of huge announcements, not the least of which concerning the newest video game consoles, Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. In case you missed it, here’s a breakdown of all the biggest and best stories, news, and headlines from day one of this year’s E3. Read the rest of this entry »

The 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo is right around the corner, and what better way to get hyped up for the event than by speculating what the conference might have to offer? I did a list like this last year and came away with almost one correct prediction, so maybe this year will be more realistic (though I highly doubt it). Even so, getting just one of these to be true would be fantastic and would totally make my E3. One can hope… Read the rest of this entry »

Hot off the heels of the reveal of the Xbox One, the Bosscast returns with another brand new episode!
This week Jett, Mat, and I are talking about the Super Nintendo and why it’s Jett’s favorite console of all time! You may have heard of some of the games on the console: Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super Mario Kart, … a lot of “Supers”. We each pick our “Sleeper” hits on the SNES as well. I’m positive after this episode you’ll want to play SNES as bad as we all did!

The Bosscast is back with a special episode discussing the reveal of Microsoft’s Xbox One!
Mat, Jett, and I thrown down our thoughts about the games (or lack there of), tech behind the console, and even the design choice of the box itself. There’s some positives and a lot of negatives from a group of gamers that feel left behind as Microsoft moves forward.

Following the announcement of the successor to the Xbox 360 known as the Xbox One, reactions have been a jumbled collection of excitement, speculation of the future, questions about what was seen and what wasn’t seen, and a sense of wonder about the whole thing. So in other words, job well done to Microsoft for getting the community talking about their next box.
From a gamer’s standpoint however, I’m not entirely sure I’m on board at all with the Xbox One. My gut reaction is telling me to wait this thing about and see what the Xbox One delivers in the future, but as of right now there’s some questions I want answered. Read the rest of this entry »
