Sunday Roundup: 2/3/13

03 Feb

New Games (2-3-13)I’ve been bitten by the “I feel obligated to spend money” bug! And I have a feeling the symptoms aren’t going to go away until I pick up a few cheap games. This week was just the starter. I’m getting antsy about buying games I’ve been looking at on the GameStop shelves for months/years now: all I’m waiting for is a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” used sale and I’m gonna go nuts. By “go nuts” i mean drop like, $30. I’ll probably buy upwards of 10 games with said $30, so it’ll be a good deal. More on that to come if and when it should occur. Until then…

Brain Age 2 CoverBrain Age 2
DS
Release Date: August 20th, 2007
Purchased at: GameStop (Michigan City, IN – $5)

I fired up this bad boy a few nights back just to see what it was like and was happy with it. The game is comprised of simple brain activities (at least the beginning is), in which you complete simple math equations, follow along and play the music, play rock-paper-scissors, and more. I can see how and why seeing your “Brain Age” and trying to earn a lower age was addictive: I’m being mocked for my ineptitude! Shut up, stupid flying polygon head doctor guy! Don’t judge me!

Jet Moto 3 CoverJet Moto 3
PlayStation
Release Date: August 31st, 1999
Purchased at: Game Changers (Michigan City, IN – $4)

Interesting story: there are three games in the Jet Moto series of… hoverbike?… racers, and I somehow only had (previous of this week) Jet Moto 2. I frequently see the first Jet Moto in the wild but seldom give it more than a glance because it’s either a Greatest Hits version, in piss poor shape, or would otherwise disrupt my “Buy X, Get Y Free” patter. So anyhoozle, where I was going with this is that I never really see Jet Moto 3 out there. So when I saw this version, in great condition and at a good price, I decided it was time to fill that flying motorbike racing game hole in my heart.

Science Papa (Wii) CoverScience Papa
Wii
Release Date: July 21st, 2009
Purchased at: GameStop (Michigan City, IN – $1.50)

The receiving end of a “Buy 1 get 1 half off” sale, Science Papa for the Wii joins its DS brother in my collection. I’m actually interested in playing this one, capping some footage, and throwing a video together. Don’t be surprised if you see some EXPERIMENTING going on! Huh? Huh? Get it?…

Transformers Prime (3DS) CoverTransformers Prime: The Game
3DS
Release Date: October 30th, 2012
Purchased at: N/A (Gift)

I received this game and the following Wii version from my brother. He also attained a copy of the DS version which was given to my nephew. I have never seen this version of Transformers, nor did I know it even existed until now, so I have no clue as to what the game will be like. I’d say betting on me never opening this game or the other one is pretty safe. Who knows? Maybe one day it’ll blow up and I’ll be in the money!

If Science Papa and Cooking Mama hook up, what would their children be named?
