One of the best things video games can do is bring people together. Multiplayer has been around for decades, and with a general shift toward online multiplayer being the only way to play with others, local multiplayer and party games have been declining. Despite this, some of the greatest video games created were made specifically with local multiplayer in mind. Recently Nintendo seems to be the only publisher making games to fit in this genre, but there have been dozens of games released over the past years that exemplify the party genre. Here is my list of the ten greatest party games ever! Read the rest of this entry »

This game was repackaged and/or it was used, but for just $4 I wasn’t going to say no to a Final Fantasy game. I played and enjoyed the previous Final Fantasy MMO on the PC, FFXI, and I’ve heard some pretty great things about this game! I would prefer to play on the PC though, but a console MMO could be pretty fun! Maybe one of these days I’ll get around to checking this one out. |

Collecting two weeks, this Sunday Roundup has a few targeted pickups I knew I was going to grab, as well as some totally random ones, and even some awesome sale prices! Whenever there are sales that lump together a few solid games and some average one in a bundle price, I’ll always take a look if not grab a few to add to the collection. It’s good, though, these don’t come by too often, otherwise I’d have no money at all! Read the rest of this entry »

All the excitement and buildup to the year’s biggest video game show has come and gone, and left in its wake are dozens of new game announcements, trailers, demos, and press conferences. On the whole I felt this year’s E3 dwells in comparisons to last years (which may stem from my Nintendo fandom), but nonetheless there were plenty of great experiences to take away from this years show. Even if Capcom didn’t announce Power Stone 3 yet. Read the rest of this entry »

Somehow I forgot to use up a Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon at GameStop I was given way back in January for renewing my subscription to their Power Up Rewards program. Coincidentally that was free thanks to a multitude of “Points” I’ve earned at the retailers from years of wasting money there. I get told all the time when I’m there that I have a lot of points and I should spend them, but honestly there isn’t anything I’d want to spend them on in their catalog. Anyway, that’s a separate story. So I went to three separate GameStop’s to try and find a deal worth my coupon, but sadly I only scrounged up three random games to use it on (I was hoping to pick up Mortal Kombat X and Kirby’s Rainbow Curse, but no such luck). All was not lost, however, as the chain was having a 4 for $10 sale on a lot of great-but-old last generation titles! I picked up four at each location, haha. Lastly, this weeks Roundup brings me very close to getting the elusive 2,000th game (about 100 away). I wonder what it’ll be… Read the rest of this entry »

I was aching to go to a GameStop we don’t usually get to that often, and after a triplet of failed attempts to make it, we finally got there late in the week. And man, it did NOT disappoint! Lately I’ve been all about checking out the loose DS games, because sometimes there are great deals hidden away in there. Sure, I wish I could get them complete, but if I can still find them cheap enough, it’ll still be worth it. Anyway, this week I found a trio of excellent DS games, all for stupid fantastic prices! Not only that, but there were some great Wii games at this store as well. And a great week wouldn’t be complete without a few eBay lots as well! Read the rest of this entry »

While attending this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, I was able to stop by the Sony booth and get a hands-on demo with PlayStation Now, Sony’s online streaming service for the PlayStation line of products. Having just announced a new subscription service at the beginning of the show, the online streaming service is beginning to become more enticing for price of admission. Before I decide to plop down $20 a month for the service, I was able to demo the service’s capabilities at the show, as well as ask some questions to Jack Buser, the Senior Director of the PlayStation now brand. I’m late on getting this Christmas themed Sunday Roundup out, but after the holiday itself, and the craziness that was my job, followed by the fun times had on New Year’s Eve, and then a week long vacation in Las Vegas and getting to see the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, I barley had any time to write! Because of that, I have actually combined the last three weeks into this one Roundup. Honestly, it really just contains the games from the holidays, as I didn’t buy but one game afterward, but to be perfectly fair, you all know. Also, this is the last Roundup of 2014! And I have to say, it was an exceptional way to end the year indeed! Read the rest of this entry »

Another sale at GameStop this week has perhaps changed my mind about the company’s policy regarding, well, sales. But the real find this week was a handful of original Xbox games at Goodwill. Don’t get too excited though: this isn’t nearly as grand a find as the GameCube games a few months back, but it’s still decent. Read the rest of this entry »

After a small vacation last weekend, I’ve combined two weeks worth of games for this Roundup. And to justify why there are so many games this week so I don’t feel too bad about myself, after the previous Roundup I also happened to buy some games, so really… it’s three week’s worth of games. That makes this massive pile of games more reasonable sounding, right?
Right?
