Gaming News: 3/2/13

02 Mar

Assassins Creed 4 ArtSoooo many new games this week to go along with a boatload of new games actually coming out this week. It’s the best kind of news week for a gamer looking for the next big thing: there’s plenty to be excited about in the upcoming weeks, and, now, the upcoming months!

Ubisoft has announsed the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed series. Instead of following up with more stories of ACIII’s Connor, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is an entirely new setting, with new characters and a pirate theme.

Naughty Dog has made the multiplayer portion of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception free to play. You won’t need the game disc to play the multiplayer game, but a collection of microtransactions ensures you’ll still be forking over some cash to unlock everything the game has to offer.

Polygon reported that Double Fine is looking to purchase the rights to the Costume Quest RPG series, as well as puzzle game Stacking from now-bankrupt THQ. Here’s hoping they get the rights and we get another harrowing Halloween adventure!

Square Enix is bringing the HD collection Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX to the States. The package includes an HD port of the original Kingdom Hearts, as well as Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, itself an HD port of the GBA version, as well as the cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Now, surely Kingdom Hearts 3 is next…

Microsoft is pumping out daily deals all this week and next on their Games on Demand titles. Each week features a selection of games available at a discounted price, and there are one-day-only deals to take advantage of as well. There are some stellar games included!

Old school dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock is getting a sequel. The developers reported via the game’s blog that they were initially working on DLC for the first game and decided to switch to making the sequel instead. A great move in my opinion, because Grimrock was great and a sequel sounds awesome!

More Square Enix news. The Japanese company sent out a tweet that seems to hint at the well received RPG Bravely Default making its way stateside. The tweet said (in Japanese) that the company has heard the cries of its fans for the game to be translated. Here’s hoping!
